Description
The basic function of the Smart Stick is to detect an obstacle and give a feed back via buzzer, vibrator and an ear piece device to the user. It works on the principle of Ultrasonics. The user here is a visually challenged person or an elderly with poor vision. The Smart Stick is an enhanced version of the walking stick for the blind. Smart Stick alerts the user using buzzer, vibrator or an ear piece about the obstacle ahead and helps him navigate smoothly. Smart Stick has won the Student Entrepreneurship award under Best Software Product at 18th Annual ITsAP ADP Awards – 2009. It is also listed at the ITsAP website under “ITsAP – ADP Awards – 2009 for Best Software Product” categeory.
